Embracing the Art of Life Edits
Earlier this week I spent some time wrapping Christmas gifts. Now, for those of you who know me, I LOVE to find fun and artful ways to wrap gifts. Growing up my family used to tease me endlessly about my obsession with gift wrapping. This year I found myself becoming frustrated when my vision wasn’t coming through the way that I wanted. Eventually I had to set the project to the side, grab a Diet Coke and take a moment to recenter myself.
While sitting on my back patio I started thinking about how it was going to still work out. I just needed to be willing to make some edits to my vision and then press on. In that moment, I was hit with the realization that approaching the end of the year was a perfect time to reflect on the fact that life is all about making edits. Sometimes we even need to edit our edits in order to be the best versions of ourselves we can be.
As we approach the end of another transformative year, it's the perfect time to reflect on the canvas of our lives and appreciate the art of editing. Much like a year-in-review, our personal narratives undergo revisions that shape us into the resilient beings we are today.
1. Gratitude as a Final Edit:
As the year concludes, take a moment to edit your mindset by embracing gratitude. Edit out negativity and replace it with appreciation for the lessons, joys, and challenges that have woven together the tapestry of your year.
2. Yearly Goals, Revisited:
Your yearly goals may have evolved, and that's perfectly fine. Reflect on your achievements, adjust any unmet expectations, and edit your goals for the upcoming year with a renewed sense of purpose.
3. Editing Unwanted Baggage:
The end of the year provides a unique opportunity for a life-editing session. Let go of any unwanted baggage, whether it be unfulfilling relationships, self-doubt, or habits that no longer serve you. Edit your life with a commitment to personal growth and well-being.
4. Yearly Theme Adjustment:
If you set a theme for the year, consider how it manifested in your life. Was it resilience, self-discovery, or perhaps a focus on mindfulness? Use this time to edit your theme for the upcoming year, aligning it with your evolving aspirations.
5. Celebrating Edits and Milestones:
Celebrate the edits you've made and the milestones you've reached. Life is a journey, and each edit contributes to the beautiful story of your growth. Take pride in the masterpiece that is uniquely yours.
6. New Year, New Opportunities to Edit:
As the new year dawns, embrace the blank canvas ahead. Recognize that the art of editing is an ongoing process. Just as a painter continuously refines their work, you have the power to shape and reshape your narrative throughout the coming year.
7. Anticipating the Unwritten Chapters:
Approach the upcoming year with a sense of excitement for the unwritten chapters. Life's unpredictability is what makes it so beautifully complex. Edit your mindset to welcome the unknown with open arms, knowing that each twist and turn adds depth to your story.
Conclusion:
In the grand tapestry of life, editing is not a sign of imperfection; it's a testament to your resilience, adaptability, and commitment to living authentically. As the year draws to a close, revel in the opportunity to refine your life's masterpiece and step into the new year with a canvas full of endless possibilities.
